Senna Tablets are a stimulant laxative used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation in adults.

Each tablet contains calcium sennosides equivalent to 7.5mg of hydroxyanthracene glycosides, calculated as sennoside B

Sennosides stimulate the muscles of the bowel, helping move stools through the digestive system and encouraging a bowel movement.

Adults should usually take one or two tablets at bedtime with a glass of water. New users should begin with the lowest dose.

Senna is normally taken at bedtime to help produce a bowel movement the following morning. The time it takes to work can vary between individuals.

This adult formulation is intended for people aged 18 years and over. It should not be given to children or adolescents under 18.

Do not use Senna Tablets for longer than one week. They are normally required only two or three times during that week.

Do not take senna if you have intestinal obstruction, severe dehydration, inflammatory bowel disease, persistent abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, unexplained rectal bleeding or faecal impaction.

This product should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a suitable constipation treatment.

Possible side effects include abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhoea and allergic skin reactions. Senna may also cause harmless yellow or reddish-brown urine discolouration.
