CosmoCol Sachets are a laxative used to relieve chronic constipation by softening hard stools and making them easier to pass.

Each sachet contains macrogol 3350 with the electrolytes sodium chloride, sodium hydrogen carbonate and potassium chloride.

Macrogol draws water into the bowel, helping soften stools and support more comfortable bowel movements. The electrolytes help maintain normal fluid and salt levels during treatment.

CosmoCol is suitable for adults, older people and children aged 12 years and over. It is not recommended for children under 12.

Dissolve the contents of one sachet in approximately 125ml of water, stir until completely dissolved and drink. Always follow the dosage instructions in the patient leaflet.

The usual dose for chronic constipation is one sachet taken one to three times daily. Use the lowest dose that provides effective relief.

Yes. CosmoCol Lemon & Lime Flavour can be taken at any time, either with or without food.

Do not take other oral medicines for one hour before, at the same time as, or for one hour after taking CosmoCol. Speak to a pharmacist if you use other medication.

Possible side effects include bloating, wind, stomach discomfort, indigestion, nausea and mild diarrhoea. Stop taking it and seek medical help if you develop a serious allergic reaction.

Treatment should not normally continue for longer than two weeks unless advised by a doctor. Contact a healthcare professional if your symptoms worsen or have not improved after 14 days.
