Colpermin capsules relieve the abdominal cramps, spasms, discomfort and bloating associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Each capsule contains 0.2ml of peppermint oil, which helps relax spasms in the bowel wall.

They are suitable for adults and children aged 15 years and over. They are not recommended for children under 15.

Take one capsule three times daily. For severe symptoms, the dose may be increased to two capsules three times daily. Follow the enclosed leaflet.

Do not take the capsules immediately after eating. Swallow each capsule whole with water without chewing, crushing or breaking it.

Do not take Colpermin at the same time as indigestion remedies because they may damage the capsule’s protective coating. Ask a pharmacist for advice.

Symptoms normally improve within one to two weeks. Treatment may continue for two to three months for persistent symptoms, as directed in the leaflet. Consult your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve within two weeks.

Do not use them if you are allergic to peppermint oil, menthol or another ingredient. Colpermin contains arachis oil and must not be taken by anyone allergic to peanuts or soya.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Colpermin if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Possible side effects include heartburn, acid reflux, nausea, vomiting, a burning sensation in the mouth and anal irritation. Stop taking it and seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction.
