It is a bowel cleanser used to relieve occasional constipation. It may also be recommended by a healthcare professional before certain examinations or procedures.

It contains sodium phosphates, which increase the water content of stools to stimulate bowel movement and help empty the lower bowel.

The urge to empty your bowels usually occurs within 2–5 minutes. Stay close to a toilet after using it.

Lie on your left side with your knees bent, remove the protective cap and gently insert the lubricated nozzle into the rectum. Slowly squeeze the bottle until nearly empty, then carefully remove it. Follow the enclosed instructions closely.

Adults and children aged 12 and over should use one bottle no more than once daily, unless instructed otherwise by a doctor. More than one enema within 24 hours can be harmful.

Children aged 3–11 should only use it when directed by a doctor. It must not be used in children under three years old

Do not use it for longer than seven days unless advised by a doctor. Speak to a healthcare professional if your constipation does not improve or becomes worse.

Do not use it if you have kidney problems, congestive heart failure, unexplained rectal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, dehydration, inflammatory bowel disease or a suspected bowel blockage. Ask a pharmacist or doctor if you are unsure.

Possible side effects include abdominal discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea, nausea, anal irritation and dehydration. Drink sufficient clear fluids to reduce the risk of dehydration.

Stop using the enema and contact a doctor immediately if you experience rectal bleeding, resistance or pain while inserting the nozzle, severe abdominal pain, vomiting or no bowel movement after use. Do not use another enema unless advised by a doctor.
